What Is Oriental Medicine?
Acupuncture is a Chinese Medical technique of inserting fine needles into the body at electromagnetically active locations called acupuncture points. These points have been shown to be effective for the treatment of specific health disorders. The stimulation of the needles adjusts the flow of Qi and blood in your body, draining areas that are excessive and leading qi and blood to areas where they are insufficient. In Western biomedical terms, acupuncture works by stimulating and balancing the nervous, endocrine, immune, and circulatory systems.
Chinese Herbal Therapy, although less utilized here in the U.S., is the foundation of Oriental Medicine. Multiple herbs are combined together in formulas individually tailored to meet each persons specific needs in order to restore the bodies balance and function.
Herbal therapy is the treatment of choice, used by itself or in combination with acupuncture to treat internal disorders.
